Whole dried turmeric fingers, 100g, packed for worship rather than cooking.
Kept whole rather than ground because most of its ritual uses call for the intact root — tied, placed, or ground fresh at the time it is needed.
Significance: Whole haldi is tied into the mangalsutra thread and into the kankan worn at weddings, placed in the kalash at sthapana, ground fresh for the haldi ceremony before a wedding, and kept in the shrine and with the account books as a mark of auspiciousness. Turmeric is associated with Lord Vishnu and with Gauri, and the colour itself is regarded as protective — which is why it marks doorways and thresholds at Diwali.

Most of what we sell is made by hand in India: our murtis, mandirs, pooja items, sarees and clothing. Because each piece is made by hand, no two are exactly the same. The carving, painting, pattern, stitching or finish may differ a little from the photo. Wood grain and marble markings are natural and vary from piece to piece.
