Hand-spun cotton janoi, three to a pack in yellow, white and orange. The sacred thread worn over the left shoulder and across the body.
Significance: The yajnopavitam is given at the upanayana ceremony and worn thereafter as a daily reminder of duty and study. It is changed on Raksha Bandhan / Shravani Purnima, and a fresh thread is often placed on the idol during pooja.
