Eco-Friendly Ganesh Visarjan Idol – Rani Pink & Marigold, Lalitasana on Carved Chowki, 12 inch

A rani pink dhoti shot through with metallic gold shimmer, gold-edged pleats and gold anklet bands over the feet, under a marigold amber khes that runs over the right shoulder and down the back in broad ribbed folds.

The crown is unlike the others — a low, broad fan mukut with a scalloped beaded rim that spreads like a halo behind the head rather than sitting as a turban. Two heavy gold chains of chunky linked segments cross the chest and belly, with thick armlets high on all four arms. He sits in lalitasana on a green round cushion over a violet mattress, both on a brown carved chowki on a pale lilac plinth, the right leg dropped off the seat with the foot flat on the plinth and the mushak beside it.

Nineteen of the twenty murtis in this batch sit cross-legged; this is the one with a leg down, and the relaxed pose changes how it reads from the side. Unfired clay, painted by hand, and gentle on the river at visarjan.
